What happens when the Nike SB Dunk Low Elite meets the Nike SB Koston 3? A fresh new look for the classic Nike SB Dunk, the all-new Nike SB Dunk High Elite.

Already co-signed by pro skateboarder Eric Koston, the Nike Flyknit cuff around the ankle of the Nike SB Dunk High Elite extends the full length of the tongue to connect the ankle and forefoot. “The sock thing is new to skateboarding, but the first time I saw it I was immediately into it,” says Ohio-born pro skateboarder Kevin Terpening, who will launch the shoe with a signature colorway. “I’ve always preferred to skate in a high-top anyway.”

Fittingly, Terpening’s black and racer blue Dunk High Elite was inspired by another classic high-top, the Jordan 1. The silhouette, however, maintains the soul of the classic SB Dunk. Nike designers focused on making sure that no matter how new it looked and felt, at its core, this was all Dunk.

Thanks to its second-skin feel, the collar also serves a very specific performance benefit: “It creates a solid connection from your ankle to your foot,” explains Terpening. “I’m more aware of the way my foot and board work together.”

The knit jacquard material on the toe box offers similar advantages. It’s super thin and has very few seams, yet provides support and a locked-in fit. “I feel more stable, and that my feet are more engaged than they otherwise would be,” says Terpening.

Like the Nike SB Dunk Low Elite, its high-top counterpart features a larger Zoom Air bag in the midsole to give riders maximum impact absorption.
