Landshark Crew Clothing – Radlands 1992 archive footage

Glifberg, Moul, Penny, Shipman, Dossett, Rowley and more...

Landshark Crew Clothing have dug out a gem from the vaults in the form of a collection of Radlands 1992 era VHS cam filmed sessions, featuring the likes of Rune Glifberg, Alex Moul, Geoff Rowley, Tom Penny, Greg Nowik, Pete Dossett, Neil Hendrix and Carl Shipman.

1992 was the year the Ince family opened the legendary indoor skatepark in Northampton – last year saw the 25th anniversary of the now defunct skatepark celebrated with a heavy crew of OGs hitting Pioneer in St Albans as well as the opening by Palace Skateboards of their Peckham based homage Mwadlands – so these are some of the earlier sessions which took place within its confines, before all the comps, the ‘Tom Penny blowing minds’ 1995 British Skate Champs and the all around cementing of its place as a cornerstone of the 1990s and early 2000s UK skateboarding scene.

It also offers the opportunity to view some now legendary skaters in their formative years, not long after Deathbox became Flip and Glifberg, Penny, Rowley and Moul were in the process of putting together The Long Overdue (unofficial) Flip Video for the lens of Sean Goff. It’s also now officially fact that Greg Nowik’s skating cannot decline with age – in fact, seeing him hitting the vert ramp in the last couple of years, it’s entirely possible that he’s getting even better and when he reaches his octogenarian years will be spinning geriatric 720s.

Enough waffle, step in the arena and press play now…

“Filmed on JVC VHS-C camera then transferred to long play VHS (don;t waste tape mate!) 25 years ago Radlands changed UK skating. We used to look at the Powell warehouse in skate vids and wish we had an amazing indoor park too. We got one! £5.50 heart of England, Day Rover would get you there and back. Penny, Rowley, Mouly etc. etc.”
