‘Adelaide’ – a peek into the young Leeds skateboard scene

New Leeds scene video from Joe Allen

‘Adelaide’ – a peek into the young Leeds skateboard scene

Along with Manchester, Leeds is quite possibly the most proactive skateboard scene in the UK outside of London, with a back catalogue of scene videos to rival even that of that other city on the ‘wrong’ side of the M62. (Joking…)
From Rory McKenzie’s series of videos, through to the output of our very own Ryan Gray, to the collected works of Sir Josh Hallett, the RWTB crew, Welcome skate store‘s own contributions and god knows how many thousands of Hyde Park insta clips on a weekly basis – Leeds is most definitely a hotspot of skater-created culture, which is to be celebrated.
Happily, there is a new addition to Leeds’ huge community of skateboard filmers in the form of Joe Allen, a skater on the younger end of the spectrum who has just released ‘Adelaide’ – a peek into the young Leeds skateboard scene.
Featuring the likes of Joe Winters, Harry Pye, Josh Blassuto, Victor Mputu and various others – this is a slice of Leeds skateboarding that promises great things for the next generation.
From ollies over discarded televisions, to fucking up classic Leeds spots – this is 15 minutes of time well-spent. Go check it out.

The intro also contains the now ubiquitous query aimed at skaters the world over: where once you’d have random members of the public screaming “Tony Hawks!!” at you, or even further back in skateboard culture, the all-time classic “Fucking greebo!”, it’s now the perennial “You filming this for YouTube, yeah?” that does the job.
Big up Joe Allen and all involved. We love this stuff – please keep it coming. Insta likes are all well and good, but it’s scene videos that create local history.
