Lost 101 Skateboards footage of Adam McNatt resurfaces

Lost footage of one of the most technically progressive early 90s skaters

There are a lot of reasons why the Internet is awful.
From the amplification of narcissism enabled by Social Media, through to the fact that literally anybody with a webcam can now convince themselves that they’re a celebrity – in many ways the knock on effect of Tim Berners-Lee‘s pioneering work at CERN has been a case of not only opening Pandora’s Box, but opening it, flinging the lid off a cliff and then taking a colossal dump in it that we are all forced to smell for eternity.

There are a few upsides though, and one of those is the rediscovery of lost artefacts from the pre-digital analogue era that routinely resurface on the web.
For skate nerds like myself, this has resulted in hours spent on the Internet enjoying clips that I never knew existed, of skaters who I never knew filmed stuff at the height of their powers. From lost Simon Evans in SF footage from 1993, through to footage to accompany classic Carl Shipman Southbank photos, it’s all out there somewhere thanks to the never-ending tentacles of the Internet and the elite cadre of geeks who find and upload this stuff for our collective edification.

On a similar tip – we just happened across this bit of early 90’s gold that you can see above featuring one-time Powell Peralta skateboards and 101 Skateboards pro Adam McNatt, via an upload of a bunch of footage that was intended for use in a 101 video back in the early 90’s but, due to Adam getting kicked off for screening and selling his own boards (see below), never came out.
Some bits of this footage ended up on Adam’s Goodtimes Intelligence Agency – ‘Promo’ section, but a fair bit of it had never been seen until this upload.
Nosewheelie nollie hardflips out back in 1994 were pretty heavy so, for fans of skateboard geekery – this ought to raise a smile or two.

And now, since we’ve mentioned him – I’ve just created an excuse to post a couple more of Adam McNatt’s pioneering sections from the early 90’s, which saw him pushing the boundaries of technical possibility at time in skate culture when virtually nobody, (outside of the die-hards dressed in massive orange denim) was paying attention.
Watch, learn, reconsider trouser-choices.
