UK Indoor Skatepark: Spot Check – Unit 3Sixty, Stourbridge.

Stourbridge – famous for its Festival of Glass, Robert Plant, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Ronnie O’Sullivan and the town’s mention in ‘Finnegans Wake’ by James Joyce. The West Midlands town is also home to this months ‘Terrain Spotting’ subject, Unit3Sixty Skatepark.

Located just outside the centre of Stourbridge, Unit3Sixty indoor skatepark is split over two large indoor warehouses – one of which is street orientated, the second is comprised of a huge bowl. Street-wise, you’ve got low-to mid impact hubbas, rails and ledge set-ups all occupying one end of the street course, with various transition configurations sitting on the opposite end, offering some draw for those who are a bit more ramp-minded. If you prefer your transitions tall then the bowl room is all you – the smallest wall in the feature bowl is five-foot, with an assortment of extensions, vert wall, a towering cradle, a tear-drop and a volcano all thrown into the mix. Put simply – Unit 3Sixty has something for everyone, regardless of whether you’re finding your feet or you’re a seasoned bowl veteran.

The park first opened it’s doors back in 2014 and currently employs the likes of local rippers such as Jamie Hewett and Luke McManus. Over the course of the year, Unit3Sixty put on a wide variety of events, though it’s the annual ‘Battle at the Black Country‘ which provides the biggest draw, bringing in skates from all over the country for an evening of indoor skateboarding carnage, local bands and locally brewed beer.
