OJ Wheels in Texas – Ben Raybourn, Nora Vasconcellos and Max Taylor

Celebrating Ben Raybourn's new pro OJ Wheels

OJ Wheels in Texas – the wheel company have dropped a couple of new clips this week featuring Ben Raybourn, Nora Vasconcellos and new team rider Max Taylor getting stuck in to the streets, parks and DIY spots of the Houston area to celebrate the release of Raybourn’s first signature wheel.

The first clip sees the three hitting everything from rickety metal council builds for jump box sessions to gnarly fullpipes, and from smooth indoor miniramps to dusty DIY builds in abandoned warehouses. Ben and Nora are well versed in the traditional skateboard art of ‘pissing about’ and Max Taylor seems like a good fit, so this edit is as much fun as it is gnarly – in other words, it’ll make you want to go out and skate with your mates. Ben Raybourn’s backside tailblock to frontside tailblock in particular is a bit of a head scratcher, go try and learn that one without putting your back out…

Filmer and editor Chris Varcardipane also made the sterling choice to use Digital Octopus’ cover of Blitz’s ‘Voice of a Generation’ on the soundtrack, which is entirely un-fuckable-with – if you’ve never experienced a small-statured French dude doing Euro disco covers of hardcore, punk and oi songs then you haven’t really lived! Go watch the video for the cover of Cro-Mags ‘Don’t Tread On Me‘ for confirmation of this.

The second clip sees the three laying on a demo at Southside Skatepark in Houston before a session with the locals, at what looks like it might be one of the most fun bowls ever. Seriously, if I found an indoor park in the UK with something of that caliber I don’t think I would ever leave. Never underestimate the importance of pool coping in making everything more enjoyable!
