Transworld Skateboarding – Nocturnup Hong Kong

The neon lit streets of Hong Kong after dark...

Transworld Skateboarding presents Nocturnup Hong Kong, a film by Nick Richards AKA Nick the Bastard filmed exclusively on the streets of Hong Kong after dark. A follow up to the original Nocturnup Bangkok clip, which also featured Daryl Dominguez alongside Dylan Hughes and a bunch of local rippers, Nocturnup Hong Kong manages to up the stakes in terms of jealousy inducing marble dreamscapes – and Bangkok isn’t exactly rural Yorkshire when it comes to street furniture.

Daryl Dominguez, Jordan Sharkey, Charlie Munro, Seb Batty, Jasper Dohrs and Piet Guilfoyle take full advantage of quiet streets which are nonetheless teaming with perfect ledges, gleaming handrails, Fritz Lang set design inspired backdrops and, seemingly, very little in the way of security…take us there now!

NocturnUP Hong Kong. Inverse sleeping patterns, bright lights and ten long nights.

Featuring Daryl Dominguez, Jordan Sharkey, Charlie Munro, Seb Batty, Jasper Dohrs and Piet Guilfoyle.

A film by Nick Richards.

Special thanks to Owen Yu and Anthony Claravall.

Go check out Daryl Dominguez’s interview from Sidewalk issue 229 for more info on the pros and cons of filming exclusively at night, in relation to the original Bangkok video;

“We’ve been nocturnal for the last 8 days or so – getting up at 4pm and then skating from 10pm till 6am every night for a week…I need to get some nature really; being in Bangkok has sucked out all the natural, organic stuff flowing through my body because I’ve hardly seen the sun whilst I’ve been here. I didn’t understand how real that was until we did ten straight days of getting up at 4pm in a place where it’s pitch black by 6pm – you feel the effects of no sunlight pretty quickly.”
