Welsh Allan – ‘El Dorado’ Newport Crew Edit

Gnarly carves and Agent Orange on the soundtrack

Welsh Allan presents a short, sharp slice of gnar in the form of ‘El Dorado’ which sees Ben Morris tearing Tredegar Skatepark in Newport a new one before a Carve Wicked mission sees Ben, Allan, Sam Pulley and Jake Collins taking a crust tourist trip to the scenically gnarly miniramp of Burry Port.

Ben Morris is a relatively recent face to those not from the Newport area and has clearly taken his carving tutelage on board, showing the hand poured coping of Tredegar Park no mercy – shapes on that back smith! Meanwhile, a trip further afield sees a couple of Carve associates travelling West in order to skate the strange concrete behemoth which resides in the sleepy seaside town of Burry Port. This place looks like an absolute death trap in the best sense of the word, but Wales in general isn’t known for its Barcelona-like spots and Sam, Al, Ben and Jake get stuck right in. Have it!

For those of you uninformed about the tenets of Carve Wicked, let these words of wisdom from Sam Pulley’s Hometown feature in Sidewalk Issue 229 (just before they metamorphosed into board company form) set you straight…

“Carve Wicked still exists and always has since the beginning of time. It just fluctuates. Dinosaurs were pretty Carve Wicked, and lots of other shit happened between dinosaurs and the 1970’s that was also Carve Wicked. It was savagely re-ignited during the 70’s when John Candy nollied MACBA. Its always been a bit of fun. It’s a gang, and a budget shirt company that doesn’t actually make any product. It’s not about ability, you could be doing mental shit, or kick-turning the shallow end.  You know if you’re carving wicked. The Carve is changing form very shortly. Keep your eyes peeled in the near future for some sweet CRV action. “
